Want to feel like you have an island to yourself? This is the spot.

There’s something special in making your arrival to the private island via a single prop plane… It sets the tone for a truly unique escape. I don’t use the word escape lightly when it comes to Ambergris… you really can venture to the island and spend your days soaking in the sun and a few great books without interruption.

It’s a relatively new destination, but it’s been on my radar for a few years now. I’m glad I waited to visit because I was able to see their gorgeous new gym, enjoy a delightful meal at their restaurant Calico (courtesy of a former chef from Amanyara), and see the development of their new marina and beach club.

Christopher Columbus set foot here and you’ll see markers along the way indicating the old ruins. This was a pirate’s playground and the remains of those years are still evident on the island.

This boutique resort is the paradise for those that are looking for a quiet luxury escape.

Suites & villa

For travelers seeking a secluded luxury getaway, Ambergris Cay is the perfect escape. With only 10 suites and 7 villas for rent at the resort, you’ll love this boutique resort. Each beachfront suite comes with a golf cart to explore the island and they encourage guests to take part in activities both on land and at sea.

There is so much on the horizon for this island and there are already plans for 7 more beachfront suites this fall (2023). When it’s all said and done, they may have up to 20 more in the works along with the expansion of their multi bedroom villas around the island.

At Ambergris Cay you’ll enjoy à la carte meals featuring the finest local and seasonal ingredients. Menus change often and they also offer the option to design any meal “your way”. Chef Carmen and her team are happy to prepare off-menu requests, as long as ingredients are readily available or they have been requested prior to arrival.

Activities

Connect with nature at Ambergris Cay and enjoy an island with lush flora, rare fauna, and many ways to experience it all. At the Club House, relax at the beach or try the Hobie cats, sup boards, water trampoline, or snorkeling. Kids will love the club house, which features games and activities.

For those looking to venture out, try a sunset cruise, deep sea fishing, or a private boat tour to Little Ambergris Cay.
